Some Kawaii Adventures and updates

Last month I got hit by some cold bug it lasted around 2-3weeks, It was like the cold was not wanted to leave me, between that root canal , skin reactions to a cream or a soap thing and then pulling something in my bad has left me a bit of a glitter hot mess. However trying to get back to doing kawaii things or pottering about once I summoned my energy I took a day out to the Kyoto Friendship Gardens in Edinburgh. As the Sakuras are in blossom and did not want to miss out on the chance to enjoy it fully ( I always end up missing them!)

It's 2017, Lets make it cute!

It's that time again to reflect on the year and put some new plans for the next year. May they be dreams or plans. Maybe an event here and there.

This year has been pretty crazy for me. I have enjoyed it for the most part. I have had some stress's and bumps along the way like every other cutie out there! But I made it . No. WE MADE it! I did not know what 2016 had in mind nor did I make many plans myself .  However I did reach a few personal goals on my part and I also had a fun year of sponsored reviews and events. I also had a great time this year cosplaying. Meeting new folks and having lots of fun. I also for the 1st time in ages had a wonderful birthday. It was one of my highlights. Yup -billy nea mates here ( cause all my mates are no where near me or online.) Any way it still became an day and I felt so blessed to spend it with my own sister who knows me better than I know myself.

I did some crazy things this year. I shaved off my hair...( ever wonder why I was wearing more wigs of late haha!) I took part in a inflatable 5K fun obstacle course ! I also had an amazing opportunity with Cutesy Kink where I designed my very own wig line! I would love to expand on that one day but who knows what the next few years will hold!?  I did more modelling and photos shoots this year , I hope that this will continue well into 2017. This year I was fully accepted into the awkward mom crew at school (LMAO!) am classed as the Kawaii awkward one .  I now go out on mom dates! ( whats that all about!?) Maybe I will blog post about those dates some time . Its like so strange to me haha.

Back in April, my busiest month  I was a guest at a Gaming convention, Which was the most amazing thing ever. I keep all my memories from it treasured even though I lost my voice  and I was granted to be press at over conventions. I was at so many conventions this year am not quite sure how I managed them! I was also invited to a few events in London but alas being the Kawaii Mom I have my restrictions!

I have also enjoyed the company of my dear friends who have stuck with me this year and loved meeting brand new ones who I also hope will stick around in 2017!

To round up the near end of the year I put my energy in to helping out a local lot , made up of cosplayers and the most friendly bunch of geeks/ nerds/ costumers/ cosplay folks you could ever meet. This lot with the help of the organisers and team from CHAS do a road show collection to raise money before the event they hold where all profits go to CHAS- a children's charity. The group together get out in the public eye and raise as much money as possible and then at the event - which is a sci fi ( but not limited to sci fi ) Convention. I have had the pleasure to join at many of these collection days and its win - win. You cosplay , you enjoy it , you meet folks and hang out with such a fun team and its all for the children who need our support and help.

Over all I think 2016 has been kind to me. I feel very blessed to have had such a well balanced year. I hope that 2017 will bring more new opportunities , new things such as events and much much more!
I also wish each and every one of you a wonderful kawaii happy new year .

What is your Kawaii fashion identity .

Fashion. Its a vast world out there full of fashion, main stream to sub fashion. To High street trends to the trends in High-school and Collage. Finding your own fashion and style is very interesting path. Over the years I have tried many styles , some suited me and many didn't. Eventually we find our place in fashion and learn what we like and dislike. I have not done a personal post in ages so I finally got round to my thoughts on my fashion Identity and how is changed over the past 4 years.

A few years back I ventured into Lolita it didn't last very long for me, I understood the guidelines and the rules of dressing in such a fashion but I found it didn't fit my personality or my lifestyle. To this day I still love it ,I admire it on others and adore it, But not on me. I love those who wear it and when I see groups of those pretty frilly enchanting creatures, when they are on a meet up. My heart fills up just admiring them all.

However when I looked to other fashions. I found them not quite to fit me being  a bit dull and not so kawaii from the UK high street trends. I turned to J-Fashion and the sub styles even then, I knew what I liked but never quite found what style I fitted into so I guess I just call it Harajuku inspired and Kawaii fashion.  I found Decora and fairy kei to young for me , I found Gal styles a bit over the top - I really could not place the name for the style, I wanted to embrace with myself with .

It was about 3-4  years ago I started to find more quirky looking clothing online and mixed it with my own tastes to slowly build up a collection of my style, it is still being worked on as I write this, as am far from finished.  I call it Kawaii Fashion ...well its under that umbrella.
What I can say is I have really moved away from wearing greys and blacks , now am 90% colour- yay! I used to be into Scene and Goth in the past - I do also like those styles but favour more Japanese street style to those, mind you I think every one dips a toe in those styles down the fashion discovery path. However the inner rock chic in me sometimes surfaces every now and again with a hint of gothic.Old habits I guess.

I am on the forever hunt for a style that screams Kawaii that can be both toned down and up! I look for happy colours and lots of pink. I am in love with pastels ,something I would never wear in the past. I also have learnt to tone down my looks and outfits when I need to and when I need to let a kawaii explosion happen on a simple outfit. I much favour comfort and causal when it comes to items I pick and choose from. I even love to play about with makeup and go a bit crazy with it.
Sometimes and lets be real about this , here in the UK you don't always get to wear what you want ,all the time. So many pass judgement or it just not seen as appropriate.  I tone down to fit in with situation and tone up when it comes to meet ups, seeing friends and events or if its on Tartan Kawaii business. Its a useful skill to have.
I count myself lucky cause,I am comfortable in whatever I wear and if I get looks form others - well, I get looks am happy being in the styles I like toned up or down. So I do not worry about what others think. Yup I will find a way to sneak in some Kawaii or style if needed I will bend rules if the situation comes about mind you I do have become known now , at the school run for bright high top trainers to  those rock chic leather jackets.

Accessories ,I love the use of accessories and think those can be your best friend if you are wearing something simple . I firmly believe they have the power to complement and bring Kawaii to an outfit. Mind you I do struggle to find more mature looking Kawaii items and ranges. This goes to outfits and fashions as well. It's like once you hit your early 20's to mid 20's your not seen as Kawaii anymore or its not a market for companies to take an interest in. Just a head up- we all get old! And I, for one am staying Kawaii even when am a old wife, btw with my leathers and blue rise hair its a style I will rock well! So even though I have had to hunt high and low to find the right sorta style and accessories its not stopped me being Kawaii no matter what my age. I also stopped trying to look baby looking or aiming to look younger than what I really am. Hey, I thought at the time it was a good idea of eternal youth but since then I got back on my own game and stopped looking as young as possible and embraced my new mature Kawaii self. The answers to the game guess Tartan's age are all off and no one can guess my real age , such a mystery lol! I have fallen in love with some cool kawaii accessories over the years and like your indie style brands I have a big love for Tarina Tarantino, Loungefly x Hello Kitty, Japan. L.A and  The Rougue+The Wolf.

It is funny with all this hunting you come across many companies and retailers on those paths and then with outfits . You find out how to change your style of make up to match in with it. For a long time I was natural shades and a ton of eye liner and a full face of make up every day. Now every day its a BB cream, brows done and blusher and my fave lippy in a shade of pink. ( I am loving JSC and Splash LA pinks.) This is for the every day casual look I aim for when am in the Kawaii Mumma mode. But I will put on a full face when it comes to events, and such. I want it to last all day, yuno.
I am enjoying so many make up brands just know, such as Lunastick Comestics Labs, Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Make up Monsters , Sugar pill and Concrete Minerals. Mainly animal testing free products and some are vegan too. I also adore my Korean and Japanese Products too but then I maybe a bit of a sucker for Kawaii packaging - lol.

So this is my Kawaii Fashion Identity. I like to dress up Kawaii and am happy. And to me that is all that matters. If you like to dress up in a style and fashion and it makes you happy. Then be yourself and do it. I see my kawaii fashion like my armour. It helps me take on the day. Even if its a lazy day with bed head hair and I throw on my Hello Kitty oneise and a full face of make up answering the door to the postman who has brought me something new and cute in the post. No cares there lol.

Hey girl, where you been? Its Convention time!

Hey, ah-ha so I know am super lacking in blog posts. But I do this for a reason. I want to blog about interesting things as well as doing reviews. I think going out and doing things makes a blog post interesting instead of living behind the computer screen and blogging every day. Also I have my 'To Do List' written out and this is at the top of it . Not to mention every other thing I still have to do or tie up with lose ends. Any way! If any of you wanted to know what I've been up to,  then here it is.

This Month is the start of conventions for me this year and since the start of the year I been working on ideas to cosplay at Comic conventions that are local to me. I am missing so many this year due to a wedding on the other family side. (Yes am pouting about it. Not Kawaii at all but gurl gotta stand up for her thing yuno. *Kawaii bitch right here*) So thanks to this family event I will be missing at least 5 days worth of conventions, with the way travel has worked out and such. Pretty gutted. So might as well take the chance to enjoy all the local ones as much as I can.
(Am also getting a kawaii outfit to wear to the wedding btw as an attempt to make up for missing these conventions so yay!)

The 1st convention I was at , was Dee Con. I been going there for 3 years now and every time the event gets so busy and so many turn up for it. I was working as press coverage for Cyten.co.uk and you can see my write up  and soon ( PROMISE) video footage I  have been fighting  working on , for youtube. It was rather crowded but thankfully the weather was cloudy but dry so most of the time I spent outside . I got to meet up with my fellow cosplayers and fashion friends and had lots of fun. I was in cosplay as Ash, from pokemon. I was super shocked to have many ask me if I was ''Tartan from youtube'' and being asked to have my photo taken with them. A very odd and surreal experience for me!

The next  convention was Edinburgh Comic Con, which was something I went to last year under a different name. I went more for fun and to see if much had changed, This year there was so many other folks . Much more busy than when I was there. So much more cosplay too.
I cosplayed as well - more of a causal cosplay to be honest but it was lots of fun. In the space of five mins I was being asked to have photos taken and then to have this most of the time while at the event. It was very odd. This time I took my poi even though the weather was showers and windy . I kept hope to use them. Which I did. Over all the event was lots of fun.

Talking of poi, this is something I just started doing for maybe for 2 months now.
I wanted to learn something new, I saw fire spinning and was amazed by it, poi is the same thing but no fire. I got a few sets of poi now , tails , scarf and LED ones.
I was super lucky to learn a few moves to use when the sun came out at the event so I braved the chilly weather and got not only a stunning photo by a photographer but some footage of me spinning which the link you can find on my youtube video of the event.

So yeah I have been pretty busy and I have so much to catch up on but thought it was time for a blog post!
Any way here is more photo spam for you all! Till next time, laters.

DIY New Year Kawaii Post!

Happy New Year its 2014!
My 1st post of the year- Yay.

Are you all ready to take on the new year!? Have you set your new years resolutions? This year I have made more goals and dreams to reach and aim for! I thought I would share a DIY New Year Kawaii  idea with you all today!
This year I felt it was a good idea to get a 2014 Diary - I don't really use them as I have Calendar's in the House. When I went looking for one in the shops after Christmas the were all on sale but only the dull and non-cute looking ones were left over and neglected.
However I did find a nice sized one with a Camera on the front of it. Perfect I thought. It's cheep, simple and the Camera would remind me to reach for my new dreams. Am hoping to take a Photography class and take more photos at the conventions and events that I will be attending in 2014. Hence the need of a diary

Here is a picture of what it looked like! A bit boring for my kawaii life style! LOL.
So.. I got some of my new Stickers out and gave it a bit of a make over...

I went for a Cat and Bear theme on the cover. It looks much more fun and interesting do you not think?!

Kawaii!!
I added a few gems on to the cover too , I can not wait to fill this in with important dates, goals and dreams to reach for this year. I even have little stickers that act as page book marks to add to this for friends Birthdays and other important entries.

Will you be taking my idea and giving your new 2014 diary a Kawaii make over?!

It's all about Kawaii- How to be Kawaii

''What is Kawaii..?" ..."How can I be Kawaii?!"...'' How can I be Kawaii like you?!'' '...''How can I be more Kawaii?!''...

I get these questions thrown at me a lot not just online but offline too often the ''What is Kawaii?'' one. So am going to brake these up and help all of you cute blog readers how to be Kawaii or extra Kawaii!!

What is Kawaii?!
(Based on the Blogger's own personal thoughts.)

Kawaii is a Japanese word かわいい Kawaī , It means in English likes of ''Cute, sweet, dear, adorable, pretty, charming ,childish, and lovely.'' Its a word used a lot by girls, teens and even mature women. Its even being used all over the world now because Kawaii things are becoming popular.
But what does it mean then  Well Kawaii can mean anything ''cute'' to every one because we all have different tastes. Some of us like cute animals, or cute funny photo' , others like cute 'n creepy or the Geeky cute stuff and others like cute and girly for example.
The list is endless!
source from pinterest 'cute tea cup kitten'
Kawaii to me is a bit different to the above maybe because am such a lover of Japan and everything from Japan. So to me Kawaii is a Japanese thing that is Cute in Japan.. think Hello Kitty Rilakkuma and Mameshiba. But its not Limited to cute Characters!  To me its also Style, Fashion, Music and Culture from Japan, Well that's my personal primary meaning of the word Kawaii and I don't try to limit it on purpose or anything I just feel it needs to be rounded off as a word  as it means many things to every one but I will hands down admit I  do use Kawaii for many other thing's like, to me my daughter is also cute or will do endearing things that are cute. So that is why I think Kawaii can be a personal thing!
copyright www.JapanLover.me
I often say Kawaii a lot, But I really like the word. I also interchange with both words Cute and Kawaii. Over all Kawaii has many meanings and its other main meaning to me is...
Kawaii is something that you like, makes you smile and feel cute and happy at the same time!

''How can I be Kawaii?'' ''How can I be Kawaii Like you?''

So, How can some one be Kawaii? Well its all down to personal taste and interests at the end of the day. What you might find Kawaii might not be Kawaii be for others not but its not hard to find others whom are Kawaii Kinder spirits- thanks to the cyber world!
To be Kawaii think of the things that interest you, Is it food, culture ,fashion style? ect ect and form there you can work on what you already have as a interest and research it along side Kawaii.

So lets have some steps on How to be Kawaii.
(From the Bloggers personal point of view.)

Being Kawaii is something personal. You don't need to change who you are to be Kawaii.
The best thing to research!  Get on Google and Search Kawaii.

Depending on your interest of Kawaii you might want to look into the meaning of the word and the culture and Japan. If these things interest you, you may find yourself in heaven.
Do you like art, comics and TV shoes then you will want to look into anime and manga.

Do you adore cute characters and soft toys such as the famous Hello Kitty ? She is also a good starting points as she appeals to all kinds of people and will introduce you to other cute characters.
Or are you into make up- why not look into Japanese Make brands and Make up How to's Videos. Don't forget to look into cute fashions and more so the styles and sub styles from Japan ( J-Fashion.) Worth checking them all out by the way!!

The reason for taking your interest and looking at it from a different view the Kawaii view I guess....Is so that you do not look and seem Fake or a Wannabe around your friends and new Kawaii Friends, We are not changing you or your personality here.

Acting Kawaii...

Acting Kawaii...okay this is when it can look fake, over the top and childish. You don't want to do something you don't normally do, as it will look odd to friends and family.

Being Kawaii and acting Kawaii is simple, Its okay to act a little over the top with excitement in your interests, or when you have found that dream dress or got a Hello Kitty plush at sale price ect ect.Putting on that extra drama to your emotions can help, and you will be Kawaii in no time!
The other thing is to stay polite, sweetly smile and respect that others may or may not like Kawaii.
''How Can I be more Kawaii?''

This really depends how far you wish to take Kawaii, some want to dress Kawaii where others might want to be surrounded by Kawaii items or want to create a Kawaii Lifestyle.

Its quite easy to be more Kawaii by adding little things to your  every day, from drinking out of a cute mug of coffee or making a emoji/smile cute face with ketchup.Picking cute charms and adding them to your smart phone and keys. Using a cute school bag or decorate your school stuff/ note books with Japanese stickers and Deco tape is also a great way to add more Kawaii.

Looking into the other areas of your interests and see if they can be made Kawaii is a big key to becoming more Kawaii.
At the end of the day Kawaii can really be anything to every one, its what you find cute/Kawaii is what matters and don't forget to have fun too!
